Chicago Bulls 87 – Boston Celtics 104

Highlights:  Al Horford had 18 points and eight rebounds, Isaiah Thomas scored 16 points, and the top-seeded Boston Celtics beat the Chicago Bulls 104-87 on Friday night after dropping the first two games of their opening-round series at home. Dwyane Wade scored 18 for Chicago. Jimmy Butler had 14 points on 7-of-21 shooting, and the offense simply didn’t click the way it had been, with Rajon Rondo out indefinitely with a broken right thumb. Chicago shot about 39 percent and committed 18 turnovers. Jae Crowder finished with 16 points. Avery Bradley scored 15 and hit four of Boston’s 17 3-pointers.

 

Chicago Cubs 6 – Cincinnati Reds 5

Highlights:  Anthony Rizzo tied it with a two-out, three-run homer in the ninth, and Kris Bryant hit a sacrifice fly in the 11th inning on Friday night, rallying the Chicago Cubs to a 6-5 victory over the Cincinnati Reds. stranded a pair of runners in the sixth, seventh and eighth innings before breaking through in the ninth against Michael Lorenzen. Miguel Montero singled, Kyle Schwarber doubled, and Rizzo hit the Cubs’ third homer of the game. Bryant’s sacrifice fly off Robert Stephenson (0-1) sent the Cubs to another pulsating win. Carl Edwards Jr. (1-0) retired the side in the 10th, and Wade Davis got the three outs for his fourth save in as many chances.

 

Chicago White Sox 0 – Cleveland Indians 3

Highlights:  Corey Kluber pitched a three-hitter and faced two over the minimum, leading the Indians over the Chicago White Sox 3-0 on Friday. Kluber (2-1) faced 29 batters in his fourth complete-game shutout and first since June 21, 2016 against Tampa Bay. Only one Chicago runner reached second base, and Kluber struck out nine, walked two and threw 110 pitches. Cleveland had just six hits, but found enough offense to win its fourth straight. Austin Jackson doubled and scored on a wild pitch in the third, and Brandon Guyer hit a two-run homer in the fourth, his first of the year.
