Nationals Get Papelbon – The Washington Nationals have a new closer, landing All-Star Jonathan Papelbon from the Philadelphia Phillies. Papelbon is Philadelphia’s career saves leader with 123 and is 17 for 17 in save chances this season. Papelbon also is Boston’s saves leader with 219. Papelbon, 34, had said he wouldn’t accept a trade unless he would remain a closer, and he agreed to waive his no-trade clause after getting the assurances he needed from Washington.

 

MLB: Colorado Rockies at New York MetsMets Mejia Suspenced 162 Games for PEDs – Shortly after returning from an 80-game ban for his use of the steroid Stanozolol, New York Mets Pitcher Jenrry Mejia has been suspended another 162 games after testing positive for Stanozolol and Boldenone, according to a MLB.com source. It was noted Mejia is the first player to be suspended an entire season under the league’s new performance-enhancing drug guidelines. When will they learn?

 

Eric Berry Cleared to Practice – The Chiefs’ star safety had been diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma last December and was undergoing treatments until this past June. He will take the field with his teammates Wednesday. Good luck!!
